Tessa and Apollo were adopted together. Please see story below.

Trish
Trish

On July 23, 2005, my daughter, grandson and I drove to Tampa from Naples to go to an adoption meet. When we were nearly in Tampa, we received a phone call saying that the meet had to be canceled at the last minute due to a transportation problem. Because we had travelled so far, the lady there (and I apologize, but I think her name was Cindy) agreed to meet us at a dog park with two of the beagles. She brought Pete who weighed about 40 pounds and Trish who weighed about 20 pounds. My daughter immediately bonded with Trish while my grandson bonded with both of them. We decided on Trish because my then 6-year old grandson was better able to "walk" her on a leash. Towards the end of last year, my daughter suffered bout after bout of flu, strep throat and ear infections. A week after Anthony turned 8, his mom was admitted to the hospital with pnuemonia. She was in intensive care for over a week. Then, she continued to run high fevers. It was discovered that she had an aggressive form of lymphoma and a bleeding disorder. She was transferred to Miami for experimental treatment. She was hospitalized for five weeks before she passed away. For the first time in his life, Anthony was separated from both me and his mother. He had never slept over anywhere without at least one of us. His grand-dad and step mom took turns with me staying in Miami for 3 or 4 days at a time. When I was in Miami, he stayed with his grand-dad -- and he got to take his dog, Trish with him. When I would call to check on him, he would tell me that he was fine but Trish was homesick. In 2005, I reluctantly allowed my daughter and grandson to get a dog -- and only with the condition that the dog be a beagle. I had been telling them that Anthony could have a dog when he turned 10. I am so thankful that I changed my mind. Trish is a wonderful friend and comfort to Anthony (and me). I thought of that this weekend -- more than six months after her death. So, I sent a small donation. Gail Addison

Amber
Amber

Amber is doing great!!! As a matter of fact we changed her name to Maggie- sometimes I call her Maggie Mae. So now I have the M&M girls. Molly and Maggie. Maggie is a big eater. And also a fast eater. She is finished with her food in half the time Molly is. They both love to play. I wish I had an ounce of their energy. They sleep together and eat together. They even drink water at the same time out of the same bowl. I think these two are a perfect pair!!!! They both love their walks in the morning with my husband and then we both take them in the evening. They wake us up every morning at 6:30a.m. Our live alarm clock!!(hehe) We have enjoyed these two very much. Hopefully I will send you pics of them real soon. Kim Jusiel

Sparkle
Sparkle

I just got back from California, visiting my son (and my new granddog, a 9 week-old basset hound). I'm sure Charlie will send you more later, but it seems to be going well. Apparently she slept on my pillow while I was gone, but was quite happy to cuddle up with me when I showed up. I have to learn to fight for space with 2 dogs and a husband stealing the blankets! We walked them together this morning and last night and they did well. Charlie says she gets a little over-wrought if other dogs are nearby and barks a lot but I haven't seen it yet. She and Riley are sharing beds, toys and people pretty well. It's early yet but I was pleased about how they were doing when I got back home. Helen 2nd follow up: Just got back from our vet and Megan/Sparkles had a good visit. 25lbs and all is well. The Vet thinks that her surgery is healing ok. He likes her disposition and thinks the transitionthat Riley and Megan are making is pretty healthy and normal. We are going to beagle play day in Sanford this Sat AM. I have attached some pics. Will keep you posted. Thanks Charlie Burns Things are going well with Megan. She has gotten much more comfortable and is not barking at everyone. She's listening to us when we "shush" her. She and Riley play, walk, and lounge together really well. A couple of our neighbors have called them the twins because they look so cute walking, and sniffing, side by side. Of course, when she wags her tail in Riley's face his eyes water! They've also enjoyed 2 beagle play dates. This weekend we're all going in the beaglebus (rv) to the ocean, so we hope she enjoys both. Should be some good photo ops for the calendar. You can be comfortable she's found a happy home! She is a good match for us. Thanks for doing such a good job fostering her. 3rd Update:Megan has adapted well and the fun they experience is contagious. We were very lucky to find Sparkle (AKA) Megan, she only wants to please. Megan and Riley will make a great team.

Lucky II
Lucky II

Lucky is doing wonderful, going for a checkup tomorrow and starts obedient classes next Monday night. He's a wonderful dog that seems to be as happy as we are with him and from the pictures you can see that he has made himself very comfortable as if he lived with us all his life. I'll always keep in touch and look forward to taken Lucky to one of your meetups, so he can play with other Beagles. Keep up the wonderful work. Monica ,Kevin and Lucky
