Hi, I’m Trixie!

I’m a sweet and loving beagle mix, about four to five years old, looking for my forever family! I was surrendered through no fault of my own, and while I can be a little skittish at first, I warm up quickly—especially if you kneel to my level. Once I trust you, I’ll be your second shadow, always wanting to be close.

I’m potty trained, crate trained, and great with cats, dogs, and gentle/calm kids. I’m also a quick learner! I use a doggie door and am picking up important house manners—like not jumping on people, staying off furniture unless invited, and letting my human walk through doors first. I’m learning that my human is in charge, and I even sit still for my hands and feet to be wiped after potty time (it is Florida, after all—gotta keep that sand outside!).

I take my job as the house protector seriously, letting out a good bark when needed, but I’m really a snuggle bug at heart. If I had my way, I’d sleep under the covers at your feet every night—just let me wipe my pretty paws first! When you come home and let me out of my crate, I get so excited that I might let out a happy little squeak. Though I’m crate trained, I prefer not to be in it, but I do settle down after a little noise and take a nap in my safe space.

I’m working on my leash training—I walk with intention, but I do not pull. I weigh about 24 pounds and tolerate mani-pedis, ear cleanings, and brushings like a champ. I ride well in the car in my doggy car seat, and I’m getting used to wearing my “necklace” (a.k.a. collar) along with my “bralette” (harness).

I know these commands: sit, come, off, no, outside potty, necklace, breakfast, dinner, up, crate, nappy-nap. and na-night.  I’m still learning down (lay down), out of the kitchen, stay, paw/shake and give kisses. I know I’ll master these skills and many more with continued work and patience.  

Though I am young, I have not yet quite learned how to play but I’m working on it and will often submit to my foster mommy and put my belly up. I do love some good belly scratches and kisses.  

I love basking in the sun and would do best with someone who works from home or is home often since I’m working on overcoming a little bit of separation anxiety. My foster mom has only had me for 14 days of this writing (03/29/25), and I’ve already made so much progress as I continue to decompress. I still have room to grow, but with the right home, a consistent and patient human, I know I’ll thrive!
